Goods descriptions and HS codes from your past AWBs

Start typing the goods and Kaede shows the rest in grey, learned from the air waybills your office made before. Press Tab to take it. HS codes are suggested from what you filed before and from the full tariff, and you confirm the code.

  • Suggestions ranked by your own history and the season
  • HS code lookup in plain words: spelling does not have to be exact
  • Nothing is chosen for you: you confirm every code

Address autofill

Address entry by postcode or city, for any country

Pick the country and start typing. A Japanese postcode fills the prefecture, city and area from Japan's postal directory. A US ZIP code fills the city and state. Anywhere else, start typing the city: Kaede knows 151,254 cities in 196 countries. Paste an address written in Japanese and Kaede even proposes it in romaji.

  • Japan: the postcode fills the prefecture, city and area
  • US: the ZIP code fills the city and state
  • Every other country: pick the city as you type

Cargo insights

Pivot, drill down, and open the shipments behind any number

Cargo Insights cuts your tonnage by airline, route, city or customer, the way a spreadsheet pivot does. Click a figure and the shipments behind it open. Click a bar and every panel filters to it. Real flown legs show on one map.

  • A summary in plain words: what happened and what moved
  • Any two dimensions side by side, out to Excel

Read a scanned invoice into the form

Drop a PDF or a photo of a commercial invoice, even a scanned one. Kaede reads it in your browser and proposes the invoice number, date, countries, totals and goods lines with HS codes. You tick what to keep. Nothing is filled until you press Apply, and undo is one click.

  • Read in your browser, with no outside reading service
  • Scanned values are marked, so you check each one against the paper

Tamper-evident

Locked AWBs and a tamper-evident change log

Once an air waybill is executed, its routing, rating, declared values and parties are locked. A small correction needs a reason and is kept as an amendment. Every change keeps who, when, before and after, chained with SHA-256, so a quiet edit would show.

  • A reason for every amendment or re-open, kept on record
  • Before and after for every field that changed
  • Change History: what changed today, what was deleted, and undo

Made to measure

Dashboards, workbench layouts and checklists for each person

Each person picks a dashboard for their role, then adds, removes and reorders the cards. The AWB workbench opens the way each desk likes. Checklists for export, import, consolidation, dangerous goods, new customers and month-end billing start from ready workflows that you change to fit.

  • Dashboards suggested for each role, then changed card by card
  • Workbench layouts for entry, follow-up or the full view
  • Task checklists with your own steps and order

AWB workbench

AWB workbench: all your air waybills in one list

The workbench lists your masters, houses and door-to-door bills. Pick one to see it as the waybill reads, update its status, print it, or send it to a partner. A new air waybill or a new customer is one form, filled top to bottom.

  • Filter by master, house, door to door or executed, and search by AWB, shipper or consignee
  • Update the status of one bill, or of many at once
  • The owner, follow-ups and partner messages sit beside the bill
  • A new AWB takes its number from your airline stock. Type the route in one line, like KTM DXB EK2245 04OCT
  • A new customer, with its address and contact person, in one form

The inbox, a search, and a master AWB opened as its waybill.

Five ways in

Five ways to start an air waybill

Start where your work starts. Kaede carries over what it already knows, so nobody types the same details twice.

1
Blank formAir waybill

Start a master, house or door-to-door air waybill from scratch. Master numbers come from the airline's AWB stock.

2
QuoteAir waybill

An accepted quote becomes an air waybill with the goods, pieces, weights, dimensions and route already in. The quote is marked converted.

3
BookingAir waybill

A booking becomes a master, house or door-to-door air waybill, with all five parties, the goods, pieces, weights and route carried over.

4
Commercial invoicePacking listAir waybill

The invoice and the packing list share their goods lines. From the invoice, one click makes a house or door-to-door air waybill with the parties, invoice number and date.

5
Customer or earlier shipmentAir waybill

"New like this" starts from an earlier air waybill, and you tick what carries over. Or pick the shipper, and Kaede offers their recent shipments to fill the rest.

Rates

Rates for air, sea, road and rail

Keep the rates of your airlines, shipping lines, trucking and rail partners in one place. Quote a shipment once and compare every carrier and mode that can move it. How a price is worked out

From an airport, seaport, land port or address. Ranked prices with a breakdown, and through routes.

The recordings on this page use a made-up company, Everest Demo Cargo.

Pricing

How Kaede works out a freight price

The rate quote shows every line of the price, with the sum on each line. Below are the main rules, with real figures from the rate quote. The rates are the demo company's made-up rates.

kaede
Chargeable weight

Air freight is charged on the actual weight or the volume weight, whichever is higher

Large, light boxes take up space on the plane, so the airline charges for the space. Kaede works out the volume weight from the box sizes and uses the higher of the two weights.

Kathmandu to Dubai by air: 4 boxes of 60 × 50 × 50 cm, 80 kg in total

Volume weight: 60 × 50 × 50 cm × 4 boxes ÷ 6,000100 kg
Actual weight80 kg
Chargeable weight (the higher one)100 kg
Freight: 100 kg × USD 4.95 per kgUSD 495.00
Fuel surcharge: 100 kg × USD 0.50USD 50.00
Documentation fee, per shipmentUSD 25.00
TotalUSD 570.00

Weight breaks

Weight breaks: declaring a little more weight can cost less

The rate per kg drops at set weights, such as 45 kg and 100 kg. If the next weight band costs less in total, Kaede shows it on the air waybill, with the saving. The figures come from the airline's rate card.

Kathmandu to London, Qatar Airways rate card: USD 10.40 per kg up to 45 kg, USD 9.90 per kg from 45 to 100 kg, plus a USD 25 fee

Charged at 44 kg: 44 × 10.40 + 25USD 482.60
Declared at 45.5 kg: 45.5 × 9.90 + 25USD 475.45
Declaring 45.5 kg costs less byUSD 7.15

The same check in the recording: 95 kg costs USD 965.50, 100.5 kg costs USD 865.18.

Also in every quote

  • One search lists the road, air, sea and rail rates for the lane, cheapest first
  • Fuel and security surcharges and fixed fees are added from your surcharge list, each with its own dates
  • If the price is below the minimum charge on the rate card, the minimum charge is used
  • The destination can be a whole country: Kaede tries your routes to each port or airport there
  • A through route, such as road, rail, sea and then road to the door, is priced leg by leg, with one total
  • A new or changed rate card is used in quotes only after it is approved

The rate quote is a screen for your staff. All figures on this page are the demo company's made-up rates.

Cargo documents

Cargo documents printed from the master AWB

Right-click a master AWB and choose Auxiliary documents. Kaede has 28 documents in eight groups: security declarations, non-DG letters, the IATA dangerous goods and non-dangerous goods forms, certificates of origin and GSP Form A, customs and health declarations, cold chain forms, labels, and letters. Each one is filled from the AWB. You can type over a value for one print; the AWB does not change.

  • A preview of the pages before you print
  • Each printed copy gets a number, such as NDG-2026-000002, and is kept: reprint it exactly, or void it with a reason
  • A QR code on the copy opens a public page that shows the copy is genuine and current

Folders for your documents, with search inside scans

Keep export papers, contracts and certificates in folders. Drop in PDFs, photos, Word and Excel files. Kaede reads the text of a scanned PDF or photo in your browser (the first five pages), so a search finds the words inside it. Each document moves from draft to published, and older versions are kept.

  • Share a document with colleagues or with outside e-mail addresses, with an expiry date
  • Folder access for each person or team: view, edit or manage
  • Attach a file to an AWB, a quote request, an invoice or a task
